Happy Pride Month, AE fam! We’re happy to announce that the AE FoundationTM is supporting It Gets Better.
Since 2017, AE has contributed to It Gets Better, helping support its mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe. It Gets Better envisions a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally, connect to their communities, and know their power as individuals.
The AE FoundationTM is awarding $150k to It Gets Better. This donation will help It Gets Better’s continued evolution from a storytelling organization to a non-profit prioritizing youth empowerment and leadership development, featuring a focus on mental health. That shift includes the expansion of imi—a free, identity-affirming digital mental health tool designed with and for LGBTQ+ teens ages 13-18.
This digital tool will help youth manage stress, build resilience, and strengthen self-confidence before a crisis occurs. Digital access allows imi to reach young people who might never be able to enter a counseling office or LGBTQ+ center. Imi has been described as “a safe space where I can’t express myself otherwise.”
With AE’s continued support, this new digital mental health resource will grow into a more engaging, accessible and culturally responsive tool that can reach more young people during a time of escalating need.
