How to wear the Mid-Rise Jegging Ankle with Nomade En Vogue

Just when we thought our sexiest, skinniest fit couldn’t get any better, we went and made the Mid-Rise Jegging Ankle. Not only does it look like a jean and feel like a legging, it has a mid front 9″ rise, hits right at the ankle and features some great, destroyed details.

Our girl Chloe, blogger behind Nomad En Vogue, isn’t afraid to add a pop of color to her winter wardrobe with her new favorite pair of Mid-Rise Jegging Ankle below.

Meet Chloe:
Hi all! My name is Chloe.  I am a twenty-something year old southern girl, who is transitioning from being a college student into starting my career in the world of fashion and retail.  I have moved five times in my life and can’t call one place home.  I have an obsession with nude shoes, lip gloss, fro-yo and little black dresses.  I love making something old new again. I love “treasure hunting”.  I am a major animal lover, a pretty bad singer, and I don’t like going to the movie theater.  I’m a summer girl and my happy place is a lake on a hot summer day.

What Inspired Chloe’s Look:
I love a good transition piece in my wardrobe, and these jeggings are just that!  When you think mint green, you immediately think of it as a spring color, but oh how times have changed!  This pretty hue can definitely be worn year-round.  Already in the mood for Valentine’s Day, I decided to pair the jeggings with this adorable “Lovers Gonna Love” tee.  I added a floral overlay, which still works great for this time of the year because it’s black!  I also kept the look feeling “wintery” by pairing it with my favorite pair of black booties.  This outfit is fun, feminine, and a little bit boho.  I wore it running errands around town during the day, and then out for a dinner date that night. It made for the perfect Sunday FunDay look.

#AEOSTYLE CHALLENGE: Denim

Whether you’re a Slim or Classic Bootcut kind of guy, our Men’s Denim selection is on point this season. Seriously, we have a fit for everyone.

Anthony from Closet Freaks Blog shows us that denim doesn’t always have to mean blue jeans. See how he styles his favorite pair of AEO Skinny Jeans below.

Meet Anthony:
Anthony lives and works in New York City as a structural engineer by day and a blogger by night. Much like his seemingly separate jobs, his style is a cool contrast of bold & trendy with subtle & classic.

What Inspired Anthony’s Look:
When people think of denim I think most often blue jeans probably come to their minds, so for this outfit I wanted to try something different and wear a colored denim. These khaki jeans with their distressed, worn-in look inspired vintage workwear vibes in my mind. To play that up I paired rugged classics like a railroad stripe buttondown with a plaid lumber-jacket, and a black lace up boot for an outdoorsy masculine feel. And because I love layers and contrast, I quite literally topped it all off with a tailored navy topcoat to add a polished touch to the look.

#AEOSTYLE CHALLENGE: Western Shirt

The western-inspired trend is one we’re really excited about this season. We took our iconic button down and gave it a western flair with a straight point collar, chest patch pockets and barrel cuffs.

We asked our girl, Olia, the blogger behind Love, Olia to show us how she styles our favorite Plaid Western Button Down Shirt below.

Meet Olia:
Olia is a licensed esthetician and writer of the popular beauty and fashion blog Love, Olia. She has been featured in magazines and the news, including the April 2014 issue of People Style Watch and a FOX News feature. She graduated with an Accounting degree only to realize her true passion was to enter into the beauty and fashion world and has been successful ever since. She hopes to help people find inspiration in her daily posts.

What Inspired Olia’s Look:
I love being able to wear a plaid shirt year round. I typically size up for an oversized look and love to do a half tuck in the front into denim or a pair of cargo pants like this one. Keeps the look cute yet still casual and sophisticated.

#MUSIC MONDAY: Xeno and Oaklander

Over the last few months the talented duo, Xeno and Oaklander helped bring our holiday videos come to life. Their upbeat and energetic sound heightened the emotion that was not only tied to telling the story of our American Eagle Outfitters holiday campaign, but glamorized the seasonal product as well. We sat down with the newly wed duo (they just got back from their honeymoon!) to learn about their sound, how they met and their super cute pup, Roland. Take a look below.

XANDO

Sean & Liz: Xeno and Oaklander

AEO: Hey  guys, thanks for checking in. Please introduce yourself.
Xeno & Oaklander (X&O): We’re Xeno & Oaklander – we’re a synth duo. I’m Liz and my synth partner is Sean, we’re in a band together. It’s minimal electronic music. We’re based in Brooklyn and we have a pup called Roland: it’s a funny name, – he’s named after a famous brand of synthesizers and drum machines from Japan. I’m sure you know the 808 drum machine. American bands like Afrika Bambaataa, Talking Heads and Egyptian Lover used it. More obscure European bands such as Front 242 and Twilight Ritual used it as well. Roland is our favorite brand of synthesizers, and we own so many of them in our music studio that we thought ‘let’s call our dog Roland’

AEO: You guys are a minimal electronics duo. What or who inspired you to get into this kind of music?
X&O: We love collecting – we collect synthesizers and vinyl records. We have a big collection of vinyl records and it is by collecting minimal electronic music that we decided we wanted to make this kind of music. The first attraction often when buying an album is the record cover: minimal and sexy. We have been collecting music by electronic bands from today, mostly on independent labels in the US, and from rare bands from the 80s, mostly from Europe. Listening to this kind of music is like discovering something rare. It’s a chilling sensation.

AEO: Out of all the places you’ve performed, what city/country was your favorite concert and why?
X&O: Paris was our favorite concert on our Par Avion European Tour this fall. Maybe because they speak French? A lot of our lyrics are in French, because I come from there. Our new album has a French title, Par Avion, that means ‘Air Mail’, quite romantic. I love letters and postcards.

AEO: How did you two become a duo?
X&O: I was DJing at a friend’s loft in Brooklyn, and Sean liked the records I was spinning. It was rare minimal electronic music. We started a band straight away and we haven’t stopped since. It’s an addiction.

AEO: What are some of the funniest experiences you’ve had while being in a band?
X&O: Our funniest and funnest experience has been getting our dog Roland!

AEO: We recently found out you have an adorable 16 pound Cockapoo, Roland. Naturally when we found this out, we had to send you an ABO Puffer Vest. Tell us more about Roland.
X&O: Roland our dog has a thing for fashion… a certain form of vanity! He loves to be styled. His nickname is ‘Designer Dog’.

AE-Roland-Final

AEO: Do his lady dog friends like his new style?
X&O: Roland our pup has two lady dog friends – and they are Beagles! Kikki and Poppy. I think they wish they also had a puffer vest. Both beagles live in Connecticut, and it is snowing there right now. Roland is their cool boyfriend from Brooklyn.

AEO: Tell us about any upcoming tours/releases that you have.
X&O: We’ve just released a new album on Ghostly called ‘Par Avion‘ – and we’ve just been on a tour of the US and Europe. We’ve got our eyes on Japan for our next tour. It’s a dream of ours!

We used “Sheen” by Xeno and Oaklander in our ABO Video.
