As you’re shopping ae.com in the coming months, you might notice more and more styles sporting a green “Real Good” badge – but what exactly does that mean, you might wonder…?

As part of our broader sustainability goals, which include a comprehensive plan to be carbon neutral by 2030, we’ve made a commitment to moving toward more sustainable raw materials and reducing our water and energy usage. This includes working with factories that meet our standards for water recycling and reduction to make the jeans and other styles you know and love in a way that lets YOU feel great about what you wear.

Which brings us back to that new “Real Good” badge…

When you see an item with the “Real Good” icon, you’ll know it was made with the planet in mind, using a variety of materials and sourcing practices to reduce environmental impact.

And over the next few months, you’ll be seeing more and more of it – part of our promise to you that we’re taking extra care to create looks you love that have been sustainably sourced to help decrease our carbon footprint and overall water usage

What kinds of materials are considered “Real Good”?

• Real Good styles include lots of feel-good, good-for-the-planet materials that have been sustainably produced and/or sourced, such as:

• Recycled polyester

• Recycled nylon

• Cotton that’s recycled, organic, and/or sourced as Better Cotton

• Rain-fed hemp, using zero pesticides or herbicides

• Recycled AE jeans using zero dyes (that’s right, we’re repurposing AE jeans to make new tops and more!)
