What Inspired Neal’s Look:
“My travels are always inspiring my thoughts, and in turn my style. Recently I had the opportunity to vacation in a hot climate (which was a great change of scenery from the freezing cold Canadian temps). The palms and the whole vibe of the island were very relaxing, so I went for a more relaxed look. The palm printed jogger shorts were perfect for wear from the beach to sight seeing. I mixed prints by adding a striped tee and then added a denim jacket for when it got breezy in the evening. A denim jacket is a classic that can be worked in your wardrobe all year round, and mixed with trendier pieces.”

Back to Real Life

1

Ok Aerie girls, it’s time to get real. Summer has officially come to an end and that means Fall style is upon us. That’s right. Start packing away those shorts & swimsuits, because it’s leggings & layers from here on out! Our Back to Real Life lookbook proves that Fall never looked so good.

5

Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun with prints. Our Hi-Rise Printed Legging is sure to turn heads on campus with its pretty floral pattern and perfect berry palette. Complete the look with our Legging T-Shirt, Varsity Jacket Sweatshirt and Slouchy Beanie.

4

Fall means a jam-packed social (and academic, of course) calendar, filled with pumpkin spice latte dates and late night study sessions. When you get a minute to relax, being comfortable is an absolute must. Our Woven Bomber and Scoop Neck Tank is the perfect pairing to catch up on the latest Aerie playlist and de-stress.

6

Running errands between classes? Throw on our Skinny Jogger or Hi-Rise Printed Legging to check things off your to-do list in style.

3

Cruise around campus in ultimate comfort with our Lounge Sweatpant. The softest stretch fabric is perfect for yoga or meeting up with your BFFs for lunch. Throw on a Long Sleeve T-Shirt for a pop of color and bring along our Varsity Jacket Sweatshirt just in case it gets chilly.

7

If your back-to-school style is a bit edgier, the Print legging in Charcoal Sky is going to be your new best friend.  Slip on our Softest Modal Bralette and pair with a Swing Tank to take care free to a whole new level.

Need more back-to-school style inspiration? Check out our What to Pack: Dorm Essentials post!

What’s Hot For Summer: Camo and Global Prints

One of the best things about summer is the #AEOStyle that goes with it. This season, camo is sticking around for guys while ikat and global prints are still top of the trend list for women. Check out some of our favorite pieces below!

Guys:  The menswear catwalks were flooded with camo this year and this print is such a huge trend that it is being considered the new khaki. To help you incorporate this look into your wardrobe, we’ve  taken the rugged yet fun print to new levels by throwing it on unexpected items like canvas sneakers, bags and hats. Our favorite piece has to be the camo cargo short paired back to classics like chambray or workwear shirts and slip on sneakers for a low key vibe.  Luckily, the print is muted enough to pair with any color you want… so go ahead, what are you waiting for... step up your #AEOStyle, by rocking your camo with bold colors like citron or neon pink. Your fashion game has never looked so good.

Stylist Tip: Only wear ONE piece of camo at a time. (you will thank us for this)

Girls:  Ikat and global prints have been a favorite in our styling and fashion world this year (as well as in our apartments, think pillows and curtains!) and luckily for us it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. To keep the look fresh, we’ve evolved the trend into a broader scope of products.  If you haven’t tried the global trend already you should. Whatever your style is,  you can easily incorporate the print into your look, from the boho girl with a backpack to the preppier girl in a classic short. We love this trend paired back to neutral pieces allowing it to make a statement – a classic denim shirt with bold print shorts are a summer staple. The printed backpack really pops against a solid maxi dress.

Stylist Tip: The same camo tip applies for ikat, only one piece at a time… just sayin’

Get to know Coco Yokoyama, AEO Stylist

Do you ever wonder who helps Preston and Lauren put together #AEOStyle concepts per season? We sat down with the hilarious and smiley Senior Stylist for AE.com, Coco Yokoyama to talk about her day to day job, style and trends for upcoming seasons. Want to know what her favorite memory of Preston is or what emoji she would be? Check out her rapid fire interview below to find out!

Name
Coco Yokoyama

Occupation
Senior Stylist for AEO Direct

What does your day to day look like at the office?
On shoot days, I arrive at the studio early to make sure the model is in hair and makeup, then Bri (my lovely assistant) helps prep the clothes for the model. After hair and makeup are complete, we do a quick fitting with the model. Then, we go on set and shoot our product all day until we get the perfect shot. We jam out to great music, laugh at each others goofiness and just have fun!

Favorite photo shoot that you’ve been on?
For AEO, I love every shoot that I’ve been on! The campaign shots for every season have been amazing and I’m so blessed to travel to such amazing locations with a rad team of people.  Another one of my all time favorite shoots that I’ve been on was when I was a little girl, my family shot for GQ for Fathers Day back home in Cali! It was a blast.

Challenges that you’ve faced in your occupation?
Everyday is a challenge…it’s called life (haha)

How do you come up with outfits for each season?- What’s your strategy/process?
Preston and Lauren usually have insight on what the design team has in store for the upcoming seasons and base the styling from working closely with these teams. Once Preston and Lauren have a concept, they relay that info to me and I execute!

Best advice you’ve been given to handle this role?
Be a leader, not a follower.
