This week, our Fit and Style expert, Jenny Altman, tackles your questions on bra coverage! Read her pro tips to learn what amount of coverage is best for your shape and size.

Q: I would really like to wear a demi bra, but I am fuller in that part of my breasts, so they pop out. Is that normal? What bras do you recommend that have full coverage?

A:  Great question! A demi bra is a bra that covers only half to three quarters of the breast, which means that it doesn’t give you as much coverage as a full coverage bra. A full coverage bra comes at least an inch or two higher across the breast, hence the name “full” coverage.

Another difference is what a demi cup bra does for your shape. It actually tilts the breast inward, creating more lift and coverage than your standard full coverage bra.

For you, your shape may work better with a full coverage bra. But before you give up on a demi (they are pretty gorgeous!), make sure you are trying on the right size. You may need to go up a cup size from what you have been wearing in that type of style. I suggest you go into an Aerie store and have a fitting with one of our Bra Experts. They also will have lots of suggestions for different style demi bras you can try, to see if we do have the right demi for you. Once you have your right size, trying on lots of styles is key to finding the perfect bra for you!

Sunnie Stretch Lightly Lined Bra

The Sunnie bra is one of Jenny’s go-to full coverage options.

If a demi is not your answer, then let’s certainly go for a full coverage bra, no problem! My personal favorites would have to be the Sunnie, Katie and Sofie. I think that if you get creative with fun colors and look for special details like lace, you will feel just as pretty in the full coverage as you would in the demi.

#AskJenny Question of the Week: Pushup Bras for Smaller Cup Sizes

This week, our fit and style expert, Jenny Altman, tackles a bra dilemma we hear time and time again – for smaller chested girls looking for a pushup, what’s the best bra to choose for a natural look? Jenny talks some of her top picks below!

Jenny’s here to with tips to help every girl find her perfect fit!

Q: Hi Jenny! I’ve been trying to find the right Aerie push-up bra for me. I wear a 32A and need a push-up that fits but doesn’t gap. Which Aerie push-ups would you recommend?

A: I love your question! I am also a 32A, and I have had great luck with push-up bras from Aerie. The Ella Gel happens to be my favorite.

You can use our bra guide and sort by size to find all the push-up bras available in size 32A. The best thing is that in our bra guide, you can see bras in your cup size. This feature is so helpful in finding the right amount of coverage and lift for you! Our A-cup model is a real A, so you can see how each bra looks on an A-cup.

Since you know your size, it really is a question of which style bra fits you best (whether it’s push-up bra or not) depending on your breast fullness/shape. Some girls do better with full coverage, others with less. If you are a smaller, or less “full” A, then try a bra with less coverage like a balconette or demi-cup. I think you would like the Charley, Lexi, or the Ella Gel (or the Emma if you’re looking for some serious push!). None of these are too full coverage for a smaller cup size, and they all give great lift.

Also, FYI, any time you wear a bra as a racerback or criss-cross, you get even MORE push-up. So convertible or multi-way options like Charley could be an especially great choice!

Gapping is another problem many girls of all cup sizes may experience with certain bra styles. Luckily, it can also be a super quick fix! Check out Jenny’s pro advice on the blog for all the deets.

#AskJenny Question of the Week: How Should My Bra Band Fit?

This week, everyone was wanting to know Jenny’s quick fixes for bra band issues! Since your band is the part of your bra providing the most support, it is so important to make sure you find your perfect fit. Jenny’s tips will help make sure you’re getting the size and support you need in a bra band, every time!

Q: How should my bra band feel when I first buy it? Tight or loose?

Q: My band is super tight and uncomfortable! Help!

A: If your band is too tight and digging in, chances are you just need to go up a band size. Or, sometimes, you need to realize that that bra style may just not be the best style for you.

Q: My band is riding up in the back! How can I keep it from sliding around?

A: If your band is riding up in the back, it’s too big! You need to go down a band size. You should be able to comfortably wear your bra on the loosest hook without any issues with it slipping and sliding.

That’s it for now! Have more questions for Jenny about fit and style? Email her at AskJenny@ae.com, or tweet @Aerie with #AskJenny! We’ll be answering your FAQ’s weekly on the blog (last week, we covered your question, “what is a sister size, and will it work for me?”).
