Honoring Our Veterans At AEO

On November 11, we annually memorialize the Veterans who have served in all branches of the military. Today and every day, AEO is grateful for the men and women who have given their time – and their lives – to protect and serve our country. We are proud to work alongside several veterans, who are continuing their post-military careers with us at AEO. Below, we’re introducing you to two of those men: Keith Deisenroth and Jason Reighard.

What is your role at AEO?
Security / Loss Prevention Supervisor at the Hazleton Distribution Center.

In what branch of the military did you serve and for how long?
Retired United States Marine with 17 years of service.

Where were you based during your service?
I’ve been stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA; Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA; Completed a successful tour as a Marine Recruiter working out of Permanent Contact Station Walnutport, PA; Camp Lejeune, NC.

Why did you decide to join the military?
I’d like to quote the Honorable Mr. Ronald Regan here: “Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world, Marines don’t have that problem.” Prior to enlisting into the Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program, I was unsure of what it is I wanted to do with my future, but I felt like I had an obligation to give back to this country, like so many did before.

Do you have any advice for people who are thinking about serving?
Yes, put %100 effort into everything you do and you will be successful. Mistakes will be made. Learn from those mistakes and pass on that knowledge to others.

Who was your biggest supporter during your service?
My wife, Jamie. We were married in 1997, and she, along with my two children, are my biggest motivation.

Did you learn anything about yourself or the world around you during your service?
Yes, the world is a very unstable place, and you always have to be ready to face the “unknown” or the “unexpected”.

What are your plans for the future?
I’d like to be in a position to fully retire at a decent age in order to spend as much time as possible with my family.

Veterans' Day

What is your role at AEO?
Security & Emergency Management Supervisor, Oversee the corporate initiative to provide safe and secure work environment and ensure the protection of company assets. Maintain physical security of American Eagle Outfitters Ottawa Campus.

In what branch of the military did you serve and for how long?
United States Marine Corps, 5 years

Where were you based during your service?
Bangor, WA & Camp Pendleton, CA

Why did you decide to join the military?
I joined the USMC because it’s a desire I had since I was a little kid. I knew growing up I looked up to the military and knew it was a career path I wanted to choose. Going into my senior year I knew if I was going to join the military it was going to be the Marines. Marines emulated the kind of competitiveness I’ve always had.

Do you have any advice for people who are thinking about serving?
It’s a choice that is difficult to make and one at first you might regret, but after getting out of the Marines it’s a choice I wouldn’t change for the world.

Who was your biggest supporter during your service?
My Family.

Did you learn anything about yourself or the world around you during your service?
I learned how great our Country truly is and how blessed our life is in America. The countries I have been to have shown me not to take the small things for granted.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to continue to grow my career at AEO.

AEO would like to thank Keith, Jason and the veterans employed by AEO, as well as all veterans across the country, for their service.

Layering with Laura

Colder temperatures remind us of one thing at AEO (other than the Holidays!): layering. We love to layer because it allows us to combine our favorite pieces in new and interesting ways. Layering is also great for this time of year because you never know when you’ll  be too warm or too chilly. Multiple layers will keep you prepared for any occasion the season may bring.

Layering With Laura

We teamed up with our Styling Manager, Laura, to show you how just how easy it is to look put together with a little purposeful layering. Laura started with a base outfit of jeans, a sleeveless shirt and an accessory. To layer, she added a flannel and an oversized cardigan. Scroll down to see how she built the finished look, layer by layer.
Layering With Laura

Start with a flirty, boho vibe by pairing destroyed denim with a flowy sleeveless top. Add a fun accessory like a statement necklace to complete your base outfit.

Shop the Look:
AEO Mesh Peasant Top
AEO Denim X Café Hi-Rise Jegging
AEO Triangle & Charms Lariat Necklace

Layering With Laura

Give the look some contrast with your first layer. A more structured silhouette like a flannel pairs unexpectedly well with the sleeveless top. Tuck in the front of the flannel and roll up the sleeves for a relaxed vibe.

Shop the Look + Layer 1:
AEO Mesh Peasant Top
AEO Denim X Café Hi-Rise Jegging
AEO Triangle & Charms Lariat Necklace
AEO Canyon Boyfriend Flannel
Layering With Laura

Add texture to the outfit in your second layer with an oversized, chunky knit cardigan. This top layer will keep you warm and looks incredibly cozy. Let the flannel peek through by cuffing the cardigan as well.

Shop the Look + Layers 1 & 2:
AEO Mesh Peasant Top
AEO Denim X Café Hi-Rise Jegging
AEO Triangle & Charms Lariat Necklace
AEO Canyon Boyfriend Flannel
+ Oversized Cardigan (Coming Soon!… Shop Similar)

Thanksgiving is still more than 2 weeks away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start packing now! Our stylist, Erin, has all you need for a weekend of too much food and too much TV on your parents’ couch.

What to Wear Today

Get Erin’s Look: Ribbed Duster Cardi Hi Lo Racerback Bralette | Boybrief Undie Tiered Tank | Boyfriend Tank | Boxer Over-The-Knee Socks Birkenstock Arizona Sandal | Graphic Sleep Mask

Lazy-wear is all about the layers, so this look has lots of them. Start with the blues and our Hi Lo Racerback Bralette and Boybrief Undie. Mix in some lavender with our Plaid Boxers and Boyfriend Tank, then tie it all together with our white Tiered Tank. To get extra cozy, wear our Ribbed Duster Cardi over everything. It’s a sweater (we promise), but just as comfy as a long robe. Then keep warm with Over-The-Knee Socks on the bottom.

This look is made for lounging, but if your friends want to drag you out for a mini high school reunion, all you have to do is throw on leggings in place of your boxers and you’re ready to go! Just don’t forget to ditch the sleep mask.

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Comment below and tell us!
