#AEOFESTIVALSTYLE: 2017 Music Festival Packing Guide

Pack light, pack right. As we’re heading into the 2017 music festival season, we’re on a mission to be super efficient packers without sacrificing any #AEOFestivalStyle. One thing we like about packing light is that challenges us to make several outfits using just a few essential staples and some great fashion pieces and accessories. First, think about how many days you’re going to be at the festival (three is pretty typical!). You’ll need to bring enough clothes to create three awesome looks, but have no fear – by swapping out key items like tops, you can mix and match your festival style without being an outfit repeater. Check out our packing guide for girls and guys below, and let us know what festivals you’re heading to this spring and summer in the comments!

WHAT TO PACK THIS FESTIVAL SEASON

GIRLS: All vintage, all day. This festival season, focus on vintage details in tops, denim and accessories like old-school lettering and lace-up or tied details. Mini backpacks, bandanas and round sunglasses are a must, especially when you’re pairing them back to vintage, two-toned denim shorts. Here’s what you need to pack: one pair of shorts and effortlessly pair back to tanks in neutral colors (we chose dark grey and one of our fave new neutrals, blush). If you want to switch it up one day, bring a lightweight slip dress and a kimono to layer on top. Bonus: you can layer the kimono over the tanks, too. Finish your look with a pair of versatile buckled ankle booties!

PACK IT
TOPS:
Crop Tie Tank | Raglan Lace-Up T-Shirt | Hi-Neck Lace Trim Cami | Paisley Kimono
BOTTOMS:
Tassel Slip Dress | Vintage Hi-Rise Festival Short
ACCESSORIES: Printed Bandana | Perforated Belt | Blue Lens Small Aviator Sunglasses
Metal Round Sunglasses | Dolce Vita Spur Booties | Street Level Mini Backpack

GUYS: Guys, when you’re packing take a note from Drake and start from the bottom. What base layers do you really need? Our essentials are shoes, underwear and a great pair of denim shorts. We chose a pair of shorts that will last you throughout the festival (but we wouldn’t discourage you from packing one more pair, just in case!). Festivals can get a little sweaty, so make sure you have enough tees to wear each day. Vintage band tees, baseball tees and tie-dye tees will keep you festival ready. If there’s any time to get a little wild with your #AEOSTYLE, it’s during festival season – so go ahead and pack that printed poncho! It can double as rain gear, anyway. Top off your look with a snapback and beaded bracelets.

#AEOSTYLE Roundup: Austin City Limits

As the end of October  quickly approaches, we want to take a minute to reflect on how awesome the 2015 festival season was. Our festival tour ended with Austin City Limits two weeks ago, and we couldn’t have picked a better way to finish out the year. We loved everything about ACL Fest and Austin: the food, performances and, of course, fashion were all on point. Naturally, we’re recapping our favorite ACL looks featuring #AEOSTYLE. Check out all the photos below, and get some inspiration for next year (because we know you’re already planning!).

Festival Faves with Color Me Courtney

Whether you go all out for festival season or give it a subtle nod, our festival faves are sure to bring out your inner boho babe.

We asked our girl Color Me Courtney to show us what she would wear to a festival. Between the crochet, destroyed denim and pop of color, it’s safe to say that we’re in festival heaven.

Festival Faves with Color Me Courtney

What Inspired Courtney’s Look:
“For this festival-esqe look I turned to Aerie & American Eagle, because they have a little bit of that boho vibe without being too bananas about it. When I needed festival fashion, they were the perfect partner for creating this chillaaxxeddd look – that’s perfect for Coachella or just somewhere coastal (ps is it summer yet?).”

Festival Faves with Color Me Courtney

“A girly-lacey bikini in a fun pop of color, prevented me from wearing a bra (score) while providing a little color pop when layered under a flowy poncho! I paired it with basic distressed denim shorts, an easy basic and must have for Spring/summer before adding studded sandals, a crocheted backpack and black sunnies. Oh and so you could still recognize me, I added a bright orange lip ;)”

Festival Faves with Natalie Dressed

Festival season is yet another reason for us to show off our favorite Aerie Swim. Pair our Crop Bikini Top with a wide leg Soft Pant or a fringed Beach Skirt and you’ll be ready to hit the festival scene with confidence.

Boho babe Natalie Dressed shows us how she styles her festival faves during a gorgeous sunset in Santa Cruz, California.

What Inspired Natalie’s Look:
“I live near the beach so I don’t mind infusing a little beachiness into my looks when I can. This look is perfect for the beach, but it’s also great for festivals. It has a little bit of a boho vibe with the high waisted flowy pants and cropped bikini, but is super comfy to wear all day. Throw on a long cardigan for the evening and you’ll be good to go!”Festival Faves with Natalie Dressed
