DIY Destroyed Denim Jacket with I Spy DIY

Hi everyone! It’s Jenni from I Spy DIY, back with a series of DIY projects all around denim this Back to School season. My first project? A destroyed denim jacket. I used a men’s denim jacket so guys can even get in on the crafting action with their girlfriends and girls, you can wear it for that “taken from the boys” look.

#AEOSTYLE Challenge Denim Edition: Favorite Boyfriend

We believe in one-of-a-kind fits, not one size fits all… so we put our blood, sweat and tears into designing the best fits for you. This season, we’re highlighting real bloggers in each of our denim fits to give you styling inspiration.

Our first blogger is Ashlyn from Let it Be Beautiful wearing our Favorite Boyfriend Jean. Every girl needs that one relaxed jean. Take casual to the next level with the fit that’s great for class or long, lazy weekends.

Meet Ashlyn:
Ashlyn is a twenty-something currently living in Washington, D.C. with her better half and English Bulldog, Tinsley. She is a physician assistant by day and a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger + part-time graphic designer for Let It Be Beautiful by night. Let It Be Beautiful was originally created as a personal outlet where she could share her life as a physician assistant student. Quickly, her blog evolved into a place to share her inspiration with others. Let It Be Beautiful offers a daily dose of style, design and prettiness!

What inspired Ashlyn’s look:
“Summer is half way over & before we know it, fall will be making its infamous debut. That means it will be time to head back to school, crack down at work and say hello to cooler weather! To be honest, I am ready for cooler weather so that I can pull out my comfy jeans, cozy cardigans & darker hues like navy & brown. I am not wishing summer away by any means, but fall weather is one of my favorite times of the year. I know skinny jeans have been the fad for some time, but the Favorite Boyfriend fit is certainly becoming my new favorite. They are super casual, really comfy and they go great with this peep-toe bootie or a knee high riding boot. Pairing them with this floral and lace top along with the white ribbed over-sized cardigan helps keep the summer breezes at bay & welcomes the cooler temps as they start to arise.”

Stitched Tank DIY with I Spy DIY

I have been seeing stitched details all over the place, and think they look so cool, so decided to try my hand at a little embroidery on my  NYC Subway Graphic Tank. If you have been following along, you’ve seen my love for neon is very real, examples herehere and here, so it was an obvious choice when picking colors. It was also cool using an embroidery hoop for the first time, it made the process so much easier and quicker even when free-handing. Read on for the step-by-step tutorial.

Add pretty details with metallic sandals.

What inspired Ashlyn’s look:
Easy breezy style is what summer is all about. When the temps start rising, why not wear clothes that are light weight to help keep things comfy & cool? This ice blue button down tank is perfect for mixing, matching and layering with your favorite pair of shorts or denim during the summer months. I have never worn Jeggings until now and this pair is a super soft light weight denim that is easy to wear during the hot summer months. The high-rise waist is becoming my new favorite style! You will find me in these all summer long.
