San Francisco Travel Style with Om & The City

My trip to San Francisco was a rather spontaneous one, but those are always the best, right?! With little to no planning, my boyfriend and I packed our bags and flew cross-country with one small carry-on in hand (yes, we did indeed share). Packing light with lots of versatile layers was essential for this on-the-fly trip – check out my top 5 favorite things about the lovely land of SF.

The Food

Mmm… the food in SF was so delicious. I’d have to say my favorite spot, though, was Cafe Réveille in Mission Bay. If you visit, you MUST go for brunch and get the pancakes! With the sun out, it was the perfect weather to nosh outside while wearing a cozy sweater. Enjoying a tasty breakfast outside in the middle of February was certainly a nice break from the cold winds in NYC!

The Sights

San Francisco may only be 7×7 miles, but there are enough beautiful spots to enjoy for a lifetime. From exploring the lively hipster streets of Mission and The Castro to hailing a cab up to the luxurious homes in Twin Peaks, you certainly can’t beat the views.

The Coffee

Oh my goodness, the coffee was incredible. I must have downed AT LEAST 3 cups a day, which is a lot for me. Favorite spot? Philz Coffee, hands down. You have to try the Mint Mojito… it’s their most beloved concoction there. My runners up would be Four Barrel and Ritual Coffee Roasters!

The Nature

I can see now why people flock to the west coast for their fill of nature! The parks are gorgeous – my favorite was Dolores Park. Also, the type of trees and plants in SF are so much different that the ones I see in NYC. I had never seen such giant succulent before. We eventually stumbled into a neighborhood park with a swing hanging on a tree. I don’t care what people say, you’re never too old to play on a swing.

The Date Nights

The golden hour in San Fran is unreal. It is the perfect ambiance for an early evening date night. Since most of the restaurants close around 10pm, we started our date early and ended up making our way to an ice cream sandwich shop called Cream. Dessert before dinner = 👌when you’re on vacay! I loved wearing such a pretty, fluttery dress and throwing on the bomber jacket when the sun went down!

Meet Rachael:
“Rachael is the pint-sized, fashion loving, rebel behind the Miami-based style website Summer of Diane.  She launched her site after hanging up her hair stylist shears to become a full-time gypsy, having lived on both coasts totaling 5 states in the past 5 years.  She has finally settled her roots in Miami, but the constant change solidified her longstanding belief that it’s never too late to start a new adventure.  Summer of Diane is where she shares her bohemian beach style, travel inspiration, & passion for all things tropical.”

What Inspired Rachael’s Look:
“Being a self-proclaimed denim short aficionado, I have to admit that these Vintage Hi-Rise Festival Shorties are one of my favorites.  I absolutely love that they have zero stretch to the fabric, which makes them feel like genuine vintage shorts.  I know we’ve all been conditioned to equate stretch with comfort, but rest assured they are so soft & broken-in, that there is nothing uncomfortable about them.  Additionally, I would consider myself fairly petite, standing in at 4’11”, and I love how flattering the Hi-Rise style is on my smaller frame.  These shorts have even managed to give me the illusion of having curves, & that my friends, is nothing shy of a miracle.

With festival & outdoor concert season right around the corner, I wanted to put a fun look together to kick start your summer inspiration.  I paired the shorts with this feminine lace top because I felt like it was a nice juxtaposition against the ultra-distressed denim.  I topped the look off with some whimsical accessories & a pair of chunky platforms.  My personal style definitely leans more to the adventurous side than most, but I feel like festival season is the perfect time to experiment with your own look.  So have fun, throw some glitter on your face, & pick up a pair of these amazing shorts—You won’t regret it!”

How To Style The Choker Neck Sweater With Glamarosh

The choker necklace made a huge comeback over the past year, and we’re so glad it did. We’ve used this 90s accessory staple to complement everything from bomber jackets to dresses, but now we’re loving a new take on the choker necklace that’s two of our favorite looks in one: the Choker Neck Sweater. Blogger Roshni Patel from Glamarosh styled this two-in-one top with an old Holloywood meets modern-chic feel by layering a long necklace over the choker top and pairing it with block mules. Check out Roshni’s look & what inspired her outfit below.

What Inspired Roshni’s Look:
“My choker blush sweater from American Eagle has been my favorite go to this year! The lightweight material makes it easy to layer with a denim jacket or wear as is on those warmer days. Since it was warm enough to ditch the jacket, I paired with a pop of color mules and 70s style sunglasses to add a little fun spark to your cozy essentials. The beauty in this piece is you can dress it up or down for any occasion. For those colder days, the sweater would pair well with a short skirt, OTK boots and a long coat.”

U-Day with Cali Ally

Forget V-Day. This year is all about U-Day! Make yourself happy & celebrate everything you love about YOU. Read on to learn how Ally Arrigo, the blogger behind  Cali Ally spends her “me time.”

U-Day with Cali Ally “Valentine’s Day (which is one of my favorite holidays) is right around the corner! I know, I know… Valentine’s Day can be a real drag if you’re not taken. But it doesn’t have to be that way!  Before I met my fiance, I would go out with my girlfriends for a fun night of dinner and drinks. Now, Hayes and I like to cook for each other in our pajamas, listen to music, and watch movies at home.”

U-Day with Cali Ally “As much as I love spending lots of time with Hayes and my girlfriends, I do love some good quiet “me time.” Sometimes I’ll walk around my neighborhood with my headphones in or sit by the bay at the end of a long week reflecting on the last few days. But one of my absolute favorite things to do is take my parents dog Poppy for a walk on the beach.”

U-Day with Cali Ally “Newport Beach, my hometown, really dies down during the winter especially on week days which makes it the perfect time to let Poppy run loose. When the tide is low and the waves are small, I’ll throw a tennis ball for her into the water and watch her splash across the sandbar. She is just the cutest! Except when she chases a bird for half a mile down the beach and I have to chase after her. I definitely get my cardio in that way! Spending time in the sun and salty air gives me time to reflect and unwind which is something we all need from time to time.”

How To Style The Camo Crew Sweatshirt With Miss Tara Belle

Camo print gets an update in a washed out, easy fit this Spring, and we’re all about this new take on neutrals. With a mix of olive green, light tan and deep black, you can pair camo with anything from destroyed jeggings and sneakers to heels and a skirt. Go incognito (or not!) in this look that’s part undercover-chic, part major chill. Blogger Tara Belle from Miss Tara Belle is showing you that camo print isn’t just for the woods anymore. Check out how she styled the AEO Camo Crew Sweatshirt, taking this print out in the concrete jungle.

Meet Tara:
“Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Tara Belle always had a name and style that made her stand out in a crowd.  With a distinct love of fashion from a young age, she quite naturally became a buyer and stylist.  After starting her family, she knew her passion could not be contained by only dressing her three sons.  She started her blog, Miss Tara Belle in 2014.  Hardly southern, supremely witty, and always caffeinated, Tara blends high fashion, down home family life, and self-deprecating humor in to her daily musings. ”

What Inspired Tara’s Look:
“Olive is a neutral as far as I’m concerned, and camouflage is basically this year’s leopard (not that leopard is going anywhere), so you can pretty much pair it with anything. I went with my two faves, denim and leather. Leather, because, why not?, and denim, because a jean jacket is the ultimate topper, duh! In the words of my oh-so-clever gf, “Why stand out when you were born to blend in.”
