What makes Real Soft® Swim special?

N & K: Real Soft® is our softest fabric that we have in Aerie swim. The fabric is super lightweight and drapey too! We are all in love with this fabric.

What styles does it come in?

N & K: We kept the styles very clean in this collection. It’s available in the scoop, hi-neck crop, cheeky bikini bottom, hipster bottom and our low armhole/hi-neck one piece. These styles are offered in a small beautiful color story consisting of black, a moody blue and our amazing show stopper Ciara Stripe print!

What’s your favorite part about Real Soft® Swim?

N & K: When we touched the fabric, we were in love! It feels so luxurious. It’s soft like butter! We also love the simplicity of the styling of this collection. We’re planning to wear both of the one pieces as a swimsuit and also with high-waisted jeans this summer!

Why do you think our girls will love it?

N & K: Everybody will love this collection because they are in different fits and stylings that will fit all girls. And most importantly, it’s so so soft, she just has to try it on and she’ll be in love!

#AerieREAL Love From Iskra: Feel Fab In Your Swim

Hi Aerie Girls, I’m excited to start blogging and sharing topics that mean a lot to me with you all. In this post I wanted to remind you that you deserve to love your body and appreciate it for what it does for you. I believe changing how you view yourself and deciding to practice self-care will help you to feel more confident in your swim.

 
With summer and swim season approaching it can start to feel quite intimidating because we are bombarded with messages saying we need to get ‘beach body ready.’ What the fudge is a ‘beach body?’ And why are we conditioned to believe if we don’t have one we can’t feel confident?

Because the concept of a ‘beach body’ has literally been created by society and the media to make us feel insecure so that we are a motivated consumer. Striving to look like the perfected images of unrealistic bodies that are apparently what we all need to look like on the beach. SO NOT TRUE, the airbrushed images aren’t even real and it’s not possible to look like that. And we shouldn’t because we are all meant to be imperfectly perfect – that’s what makes you YOU!

So here are my top 5 tips to help you feel fab in your swim:

  1. Give up the pursuit of perfection. Perfect does not exist, nearly everyone has cellulite, stretch marks, scars, who decided that these are flaws? Well they’re not, they are the beautiful unique markings that make your body completely unique. Your body does not define your beauty, you are so much more than that. Instead start dedicating time to looking after you from the inside out. Because health starts from the inside and when we start respecting our body and looking after it we become happy and full of positive energy.

  3. Stop comparing yourself to others. Sometimes we do it without even knowing, not just celebs or models we may look up to but even our friends and sisters can sometimes have us feeling jealous and insecure. I used to look at others and think why do they have: perfect skin, slim legs and a thigh gap and I don’t? I had to train myself to think ok well they have x,y,z but that’s them and I can never be them I can only ever be me and also have wonderful qualities. By seeing the beauty in others we can’t diminish our own beauty.

  5. Be more bodyposi with your girlfriends. I’d love you to share this post with your girlfriends and all start to look out for each other. If you see your girl tearing herself down don’t join in ‘Ah I can’t wear this bikini look at my thighs’ ‘Ugh I know I hate the way I look in my swimsuit’ you can be the one to stop this cycle. Build her back up, tell her how much you love her and how beautiful she is because she’s her.

  7. Stop body shaming others. We can accidentally say something that could be hurtful so always be careful and online too think before you write your comment – would I like someone to say this to me? If the answer is no then stop yourself. Also make sure you protect yourself online, unfollow accounts that make you feel bad and fill your timeline with inspirational ones that make you feel happy or inspire you.

  9. Start celebrating your body for its abilities not its imperfections. For me this is how we change the way we look at ourselves. Instead of looking in the mirror and seeing your imperfections commit to practicing self-care by retraining what you focus on. Try my mirror challenge by looking at yourself and picking out 5 things you love about yourself (I go into more detail on my TEDx talk) these should be personality traits, your accomplishments, morals and values. Then pick out 5 things you love about your body not just for what it looks like but actually what it enables you to do in life. Because we have a lot to be grateful for by having these unique homes that have incredible abilities. So when you hit that beach you’re now thinking wow I’m the bee’s knees, this body is all mine and it’s powerful. I’m so grateful to be here enjoying each day and I will not let the artificial fear of not having a ‘beach body’ ever make me feel insecure and hold me back from living life to the fullest.

How does your regular workout help you throughout your day-to-day life?

My two ultimate favorite ways to work out is Pilates and hiking, both benefit me in SO any many ways! Pilates is where it’s at, it’s toned my body, core and my posture is incredible. I feel strong from deep within not just on the surface muscles. Hiking not only contributes, cardio wise, but it helps me to think and clears my mind. I can put on a good album and get lost (in the best way possible!) in my atmosphere, not to mention having the visuals of a hike, “one with nature”, type of thing, also helps to take my mind if the workout part!MOVE. What makes Pilates stand out from any other workout you’ve tried?

What makes Pilates stand out from most work outs I’ve ever done is the strength I’ve gained from deep within my core. I’m the strongest I’ve ever been because of Joseph Pilates method and style. It’s beautiful how much you can do with your body and how much your body can transform from an hour long work out made up of  20/30 moves, 8-12 times. I walk out of the studio feeling more poised and taller then when I came in.. I’m obsessed!MOVE. With Fo Porter

How do you stay motivated on days you would rather be doing something else?

Ohhhh boy! To be perfectly honest, just getting out of the house is first and foremost. Trust me, there’s days where I’m just so tired that I don’t feel like doing a damn thing! Once I get my butt out of that door I feel so much better, almost instantly. The power of nature and being outside consumes me.. When I’m really struggling, there is a BEAUTIFUL hiking trail/ neighborhood by my house that I love to wonder. If I’m feeling totally out of wack I’ll force myself to hike up, taking it easy…MOVE. What is your favorite Aerie product from our Chill. Play. Move. Collection?

Awe man!! You can’t ask me that! Every single piece has a special place for me.. Ask the stylist on set, all you heard out of me, “OMG!! When does that come out?! OHHHHH, I loooove that!! This is soooooooo comfy! I need this in every color, I’m serious!!” There’s no way I can possibly pick just one, I genuinely love it all!MOVE. With Fo Porter

What advice do you have for girls who want to become active but don’t know where to start?

My advice to girls/ women is to take it one day at a time. Simple as that.. Its great to have a goal but don’t beat yourself up trying to get there. Just worry about what you’re going to do with your body today, be in the now. Try something new, don’t be afraid of what your beautiful body is capable of. Don’t be afraid to try a new class, a different hiking path or a whole new work out method. Most of all, start by fuleing your body the proper way, with cutting back on the bad foods whatever it may be (and you know exactly what I’m talking about!). Start replacing them with better choices and options. Even if it’s just changing up to having a yummy salad at lunch instead of that gourmet sandwich you love. Trust me it sticks in a way where if you can change one meal or snack option a day, it becomes easier to diceplne yourself in the long haul. Baby steps and one day at a time.. Remember to always love the skin your in, cause it’s all you got and all you will ever get, make the most you can of it!MOVE. With Fo Porter
