DIY Essential Oil Diffuser

Make your room a little more zen with the natural scent of essential oils! Read on below to see how to make your own reed diffuser.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Base oil of your choice (we used safflower)
  • Essential oil of your choice (we used lavender)
  • Wooden reeds
  • Dried lavender*
  • Twine*

  1. Using your clean, glass container, pour in your base oil until glass is 1/4 of the way full.
  2. Add 12 drops of essential oil for fragrance.
  3. Take 6 wooden reeds and dip them into the oil, saturating the ends.
  4. Place the reeds dry end down into the oil so both ends are absorbed.
  5. Switch the ends once a week to ensure diffusion.
  6. Wrap twice around the neck of the container and tie with dried lavender.
  7. Enjoy lasting, natural fragrance!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Ice cube tray
  • Edible flowers
  • Water

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Securely place edible flowers in slots of ice cube tray.
  2. Mix and match colors for a fun, summertime look.

  4. Put in the freezer until frozen (about 4 hours).
  5. Pop the ice cubes out of the trays.
  6. Serve in your fave summer drink or add to your water bottle.
  7. Enjoy!

Summertime is ALL about relaxation. You don’t need a vacay to get away—get a reminder to get your flow on with a pretty holder for your yoga mat! Zen up your meditation area with this cute shelf that doubles as a storage spot for your mat.

Here’s how:

  1. Start with a simple shelf that goes right onto the wall.
  2. Using a drill, make four holes in the shelf: two on one side and two on the other.

  4. Glue the ends of each strand to keep them from fraying.

  6. Hang your shelf in your go-to mediation spot.
  7. Top with plants, books or your an essential oil diffuser.
  8. Place your yoga mat through the hanging loops.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Clean, empty glass bottles
  • Sea glass spray paint
  • Rubber gloves
  • Paint tarp or newspapers (optional)

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Soak off any labels on bottles and wipe away all residue.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, lay down tarp or newspapers.
  3. Put on gloves and spray a light mist of paint on your bottle from about 2 feet away.DIY Sea Glass Bottles
  4. One coat gives a natural look, two coats will have a more opaque, saturated look.
  5. Let them dry.
  6. Fill with sand or plants, or leave them empty—up to you, castaway!

*Note: Just in case you don’t already know, do NOT drink from the bottles once you paint them! Decoration only.

DIY Coconut Hanging Planter

It’s a world of amazing! Instead of buying your next planter, celebrate Earth Day and give back to your world by reusing a coconut shell and making your own.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Coconut
  • Twine
  • Wooden beads
  • Succulents
  • Screwdriver
  • Serrated knife

WHAT TO DO:

  1. One of the three holes in every coconuts is soft. Locate the soft one by prodding it with a screwdriver, then drain all of the coconut water, giving your ‘planter’ a drainage hole.
  2. Locate the seam on the coconut and split the coconut in half using a knife.
  3. Microwave the coconut for 1-2 minutes to easily remove all of the meat. DIY Hanging Coconut Planter
  4. Save the meat for cooking or toast it in the oven and top it on your fave ice cream.
  5. Cut 6 pieces of string about 3’ long and tie them together.
  6. Section off the string into three sections, and a few inches down—tie off a section, add a bead and tie off again.
  7. Repeat step 4 until all sections are beaded and tied.DIY Hanging Coconut Planter
  8. Place coconut snuggly into your planter.
  9. Add a layer of small rocks for drainage.
  10. Layer on soil and your succulent.
  11. Hang it up!

DIY Photo Hanger

Capture the castaway vibes at home with our DIY photo hanger! All you need is driftwood, twine and favorite photos to make your own beachy display.

  • Piece of driftwood
  • Ball of twine
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Scissors
  • Mini clothespins

  1. One one end of the driftwood, wrap twine around a few times and tie securely.
  2. Depending on how low you want the hanger to hang, tie a loop at the top of the string.
  3. Bring the string to the other side of the driftwood and repeat step 1.
  4. Cut various layers of twine, tying at the top of the wood and letting the excess hang.
  5. Repeat step 4 until you’re happy with the look.
  6. Using mini clothespins, hang your photos on the twine.
