How To: GRL PWR Matcha Smoothie

  • 2 cups of kale
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 cups of frozen mango
  • 2 tsp. matcha green tea powder
  • 1 1/2 cups of coconut milk
  • Chia seeds or almond slivers for garnish*

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a large blender.
  2. Blend on medium until you get a smooth consistency.

Hey Aerie girls,

I’m so obsessed with this campaign because I’m a big believer in supporting and empowering our girlfriends. So in today’s blog post I want to share some ways I encourage and spread GRL PWR between me and my girls 🙂

5 Reasons Why I Believe It’s Important To Empower Your Girlfriends

  1. Your girlfriends will always be there, so don’t neglect them. Invest time and energy into hanging with them or staying in touch.
  2. I don’t have blood sisters so my girlfriends are my sisters.
  3. Your girlfriends are your support system, when you need to laugh, cry or rant they will listen.
  4. You can be the friend to stop the vicious circle of negative body image talk or gossip, which will help your girlfriends feel good about themselves and shine bright.
  5. Empowered friends are more confident and often less defensive so it is easier to defuse misunderstandings.

5 Ways To Empower Your Girlfriends

  1. Complimenting them on things that you love about them – try any of the below:
    • Personality — ‘I love being around you, you literally make everyone laugh’
    • Their Clothes and style — ‘Your sweater is so cute’
    • Efforts — ‘you’ve been killing it at school’ – ‘It really inspires me how well you look after your _____ (mom, dog, brother)’
    • Friendship/loyalty — ‘You’re always there for me and that really means a lot to me’
    • Taste in music / food / creativity / culture — ‘Your fried chicken is BOMB’
  2. Help them out if they are struggling at school or work by holding a study night.
  3. Be a good listener, give them time, don’t interrupt, don’t judge!
  4. Encourage them to follow their dreams, have a fun filled day of vision boarding and be there when they need you.
  5. Defend them but also allow them to make their own mistakes, offering up advice but not telling them what and what not to do. We grow by making choices, and as girlfriends, the best thing we can do is be there for each other, the good, the bad and waiting with pizza.

And these are just my own ways, but you know your girlfriends better than anyone! So celebrate each other 🙂 we are so lucky to have one another. So let’s build each other up, we are not in competition; there is room for everyone because we are all completely unique.

Getting dressed for school shouldn’t be stressful. Being comfy and cute is a must when spending the day in class.

  • Leggings are a great option when you want something simple! You are able to dress them up or keep it more relaxed depending on your mood. Pair them with a sweatshirt and bralette to look complete the outfit!
  • A cute workout outfit is an essential when heading to the gym to burn off some stress and calories. Throw on a pair of shorts and a cute sports bra and go!

With school, comes work! Before running out the door, don’t forget to pack everything you need to stay organized.

  • Pack your bag with an agenda, some fresh pens and pencils to take notes and keep track of assignments.
  • Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • On your way to class? Jam to some music with a pair of headphones.

Creating a comfortable space to work in is essential to staying clear minded and focused!

  • Keeping your room clean and organized will keep your mind at ease. Cute decorations are a must when sitting down at your desk to study.
  • Decorating your desk with inspirational quotes will keep you motivated to complete all your tasks!
  • Adding blankets and pillows to your bed will give your room a cozy feel and help you relax at the end of the day!

Don’t forget to take care of yourself and find time to de-stress! After school work, do something that helps you unwind.

  • Get your mind off school, even for a little while. Take the time to do an activity that you enjoy, like yoga or meditating.
  • If you don’t have the energy to work out after a long day, take a hot bath and put on a face mask to recharge.

Even if you have a lot of homework, there’s always time for friends!

  • Gather all your girlfriends, put on some pajamas and watch a movie for a quiet night in.
  • Social butterfly? Dress up your favorite pair of leggings and head out for a night out on the town!
