Home For The Holidays Packing Guide

Whether you’re going home for winter break or visiting family for the holiday season, our packing guide will have you prepared!

LAY EVERYTHING OUT

Before you start packing things into your suitcase, lay them on your bed so you can see what you have set out. This will help you remember things you may be forgetting and can help with chronic over-packing.

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

It’s always helpful to check the weather for  your destination. Remember to bring warm clothes and cold weather accessories when needed. Packing the proper shoes is important. Always have an extra pair of weather-friendly shoes.

CHECK IT TWICE

Once you have everything laid out, check your haul twice. After you have everything set to go, pack it up in your suitcase. Keep a carry-on or backpack out for last minute additions.

All the work is done, now snuggle up for some snowflakes and chill. Bring your backpack with you for long trips, making laptops, books, magazines, and snacks easily accessible on the plane or in the car.

#RealWishes Recap: How We Gave Back

This December has been all about #RealWishes. We’ve been giving back in our community and encouraging our girls to join in and help make a difference, no matter how big or small.

We kicked off our project by asking our girls to share their #RealWishes with us, and Iskra surprised our winners with a PJ party. Congrats again to the Sigma Kappa Theta Theta chapter at Albright College! These girls give back to their community all year with monthly visits to their local senior living home, and we were so excited to celebrate them.

Check out more of our #RealWishes below!

1. #RealWishes & REAL dogs!

We collected pet toy and supply donations for Animal Friends, then hosted a puppy break with adoptable and therapy dogs.

2. Sweet break at the University of Pittsburgh

We surprised Pitt students with a much-needed coffee and sweets break during finals week.

3. Mini Christmas trees at the Ronald McDonald House

Families stay at the Ronald McDonald House while their kids receive treatment at Children’s Hospital, and many will still be there over the holidays. We brought dinner and mini Christmas trees for them to decorate so they could feel a little piece of home while they’re away during tough times.

4. Local women’s shelters

We visited two Pittsburgh women’s shelters this month. We brought cozy accessories and sweet treats to the first group of women, and treated the next group to care packages and manicures.

It’s been a big month! Thank you for joining in, and keep sharing your #RealWishes with us.

Bloggers Across the Pond: #AEOSTYLE With Style Lobster

As the last of autumn weather makes its way out of our hemisphere, we’re starting to brace for the cold of the holiday season. We teamed up with UK lifestyle blogger Emily of Style Lobster for a feature we’re calling Bloggers Across the Pond. Emily’s styling a full AEO look perfect for chilly days lounging inside or warming up at a local coffee spot. Keep scrolling to see Emily’s #AEOSTYLE & get to know her a little better!

MEET EMILY:

My name is Emily Valentine and I am a London-based blogger, YouTuber and influencer. I launched my blog just over 2 years ago and have since grown it into a platform covering beauty, fashion and lifestyle. In fact, it took over my life so much I waved goodbye to my career in fashion photography to continue working on my “digital diary” full-time. I dabble in yoga, I‘m the first in line for a new restaurant launch and I’m in constant pursuit of the perfect epidermis. This year has been the year of style for my blog. I grew up in Puerto Rico, which is where I first discovered the AEO brand so its a dream to work with them to create my ultimate autumn chill look.

WHAT INSPIRED EMILY’S LOOK:

Winter comes late in London, so my outfit was inspired by autumn comforts – you know, when the temperature drops a few degrees so you can throw on a down filled jacket and a chunky knit without shivering or sacrificing your style? For me, the ultimate chill look is a pair of jeans and a sweater. Although these are wardrobe basics I choose designs that are trend led. I’m obsessed with these Tomgirl jeans. The bleached out denim and rips tick all the insta-cool boxes for me. I’m also a massive fan of the low-slung hip riders with relaxed girlfriend leg. Nobody wants to lounge around in a pair of tight skinnies. My Ahhh-mazingly Soft Jegging Sweater knit is made of the softest chenille fabric. The design is long on my arms and cropped slightly higher on the hips so as not to drown me in fabric.

I’ve paired my Tomgirl jeans & sweater with the ultimate outdoor jacket. The Quilted Parka doesn’t let in a smidgen of cold, which is great for keeping out wintry winds. It’s feel so snuggly. Footwear comforts are important to me as well, and I fell in love with these faux-sherpa suede black booties. Comfort meets chic!
