How To Wear The Striped Baja Hoodie with Unkept Gentleman

Our Baja Striped Hoodie is made for 24/7 #AEOSTYLE. With a bold and textured design, this is an upgrade to your go-to hoodie. Travis from Unkept Gentleman pairs our beach-ready hoodie back to distressed jeans and a pair of  vintage boots for the perfect mix of boho and beach-inspired #AEOSTYLE.

Meet Travis:
Travis White is a native Texan who grew up in Houston. He strives to help men look and feel their best. He loves to do this through blogging about style and personal development. He believes the two go hand in hand, through dressing well and having confidence. He portrays these two aspects on his blog Unkept Gentleman. Travis loves to mix and match different trends finding a unique style that serves to inspire others.

What inspired Travis’s look:
“Mixing different trends always inspires my look. Even though I love to dress in timeless classic looks, mixing different styles lets me take some risks.  Whether it is dapper and urban, or athletic and casual wear I am always looking for ways to push the envelope and mix it up. For this specific look, I mixed vintage and boho with the beach inspired hoodie, lightly stressed washed denim, and stressed leather boots.  I think it makes for a cool contrast and mixes it up a little bit. I love hoodies with print because it can be the main piece while everything else on the outfit can be simple.”

AEO Back to School Essentials

Back to school: you love to hate it, but we love to love it. Why wouldn’t we? The new school year is the perfect time for a wardrobe overhaul and a brand new #OOTD, so we’re showing you some of our favorite closet essentials transformed into back to school looks that will own the classroom.

Girls:

Back To School Essentials 2015

Boho Top
This season is all about vintage inspired looks. Our AEO Embroidered Peasant Shirt will turn heads with its eye-catching details and breezy feel. Bonus? It’s light and airy, which means it’s perfect for days when the summer heat is sticking around, but it’s still appropriate for class.

Washed-Out Jeggings
The end of summer brings the end of shorts season, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck wearing the same old jeans. Give your look a little edge in our Super Stretch Jegging in a washed out color. Slim fit pants are the perfect way to balance out your outfit, especially when you’re wearing a flowing top.

Crossbody Bag
Step up your bag game this school year with the AEO Leather Fringe Crossbody Purse. Sturdy leather straps make carrying books comfortable, and the fun fringe will complement any outfit.

Long Necklaces
Even though we know and love the bold, bib necklace, we’re challenging you to be different this year and wear a long, delicate necklace instead. Our AEO Turquoise Fan Bolo Necklace will add some glam to your look without overpowering the outfit because less is sometimes more.

Statement Rings
You’re writing all day, so why not add a little fun to your fingers? Stacking rings is on trend right now, and we love piling as many on as possible. Our AEO Turquiose & Triangle Midi Ring set adds a pop of color and unexpected placement above the knuckle. Paired with the AEO White Stone Ring, your accessories totally make the grade.

Bold Shoes
Slip on heels are one of our favorite looks to help transition from summer sandals to fall boots, so we’re happy to see the trend back again in 2015. The Swedish HasBeens Slip In Super High is no exception. Make a statement in super-high, retro shoes when you strut into the classroom.

Original Fragrance
Let’s get real: back to school is one of the most important times to amp up your confidence levels. When you’re confident, you’re able to make the grades, handle the stress that comes with the school year and make a name for yourself. Our AE Me Fragrance for Her will give you the boost you need to be yourself and embrace your strengths.

Guys:

Back To School Essentials 2015

Denim Jacket
Early fall mornings can get a little chilly. Plus, with class, study tables, football games and nights out, you’re busy and need a jacket that fits your lifestyle. We love the timeless look of the AEO Denim Jacket, especially over a button down shirt.

Small Details
Guys can accessorize, too. Keep your look rugged while adding some texture with the AEO Climbing Rope Wrap Bracelet. We also love a fedora or wide brim hat, especially for coffee with friends on the weekend.

AEO Printed Button Down Shirt
If you haven’t invested in a button down shirt, do it now.  The AEO Printed Button Down Shirt will become your staple top for the school year, from class presentations to date nights. We love it paired with a destructed, slim pant for a mix of edge and prep.

Destructed Denim
Everyone needs a great pair of denim in their closet, and our Slim Straight Jean will be your new favorite fit. With just the right amount of destroyed detailing, you can make these jeans work all school year.

Athletic Sneaker
Meet your denim’s new best friend: the New Balance 565 Sneaker. Long gone are the days when you thought you couldn’t pair skinny jeans with this style – pull the look together with a button down for a cool campus vibe.

Colorblock Backpack
Okay, we know – sometimes studying is boring. That doesn’t mean your backpack has to be boring, too. Get noticed in the library this year when you carry your books in a bright backpack like the AEO X State Backpack.

Follow Her Friday: Rosie Clayton

This week we’re inspired by our friend and photographer Rosie Clayton! Her creativity and passion for bringing ordinary objects to life with bold, bright colors continues to amaze us. Read on to learn more about this social media maven!

Follow Her Friday: Rosie Clayton Tell us about yourself! What got you interested in photography?
“Hi everyone! I’m Rosie Clayton (@rclayton) and I’ve taken some photos that you might have seen on the @Aerie Instagram feed this Summer. I grew up and currently live in Chicago and am opening an upscale, craft cocktail bar with my husband next year. I studied Textiles and Apparel Management at Cornell University and went on to work at some brand name retailers, as well as my own women’s clothing boutique, Roslyn, of eight years before deciding to pursue a career in hospitality. As we’re working on our bar concept and location, I have been able to dedicate some time to a passion of mine, photography. Being able to curate my Instagram feed has given me a wonderful creative outlet that has led to some incredible collaborations!

I first got interested in photography after taking an introductory course on film photography and dark room techniques in high school. My passion was to travel the world and capture moments on camera. I love that photography helps me look at the world in a different way, and how seemingly ordinary places and objects can be interpreted so beautifully in a photograph. Anyone at any age can start taking photos and it’s such a personal experience, a chance to tell a story without uttering a single word. My Instagram gallery features bright, bold photography with an emphasis on color. I feature design, fashion, and travel photos, as well as a lot of creative flatlays in my feed. Social media is such a wonderful outlet to be able to share visual experiences and I’ve been fortunate to meet some incredible people in the creative community.”

We love your bright, fun aesthetic. Where do you draw inspiration from?
“I love how a pop of color can lighten your mood and brighten your day! Overall, I’m inspired by clean spaces, bold graphics, and interesting color combinations. I love finding and shooting abstract and colorful street murals in various cities, especially Chicago! I’ve included some fun, fashion photos to my feed to incorporate my love of retail and showcase my personal style. A lot of my flatlays feature candy and Summer themed objects like flamingos and watermelons.”

Follow Her Friday: Rosie ClaytonDo you have any tips you can share on how to take an amazing Instagram photo?
“I honestly don’t think there is such a thing as the perfect Instagram photo. Being true to yourself and what makes you happy is the best way to really convey a specific mood or thought.  Sure, there are editing apps that are fun to use, but post what makes you happy and hopefully, it will resonate with others! The most important thing is to have fun and never let the photos become a chore, that’s when you can start feeling uninspired to post. In terms of specific apps, I like using VscoCam, Afterlight, and sometimes Snapseed but there are a ton of great apps out there. I would say to take a moment to review and edit your photo rather than hastily posting- each post is like a visual signature and a way people can get a glimpse into your personality through your Instagram feed. Make sure lines are straight and you’re happy with the colors and brightness of your photo before posting.  Consistency is also really important to your overall feed- try to use the same filter or editing tools so there’s a common thread to tie all your photos together.”
Follow Her Friday: Rosie ClaytonWe know you love to travel! Do you have a favorite destination?
“I am obsessed with travel! There are too many wonderful places in the world to pick just one favorite destination but some of my favorite countries that I’ve been to are: Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Thailand (my family is originally from there), Scotland (my husband’s family is there), Morocco, and the Maldives. In the U.S., I love New Orleans, San Francisco, Palm Springs (color heaven!), New York City, and of course, my hometown, Chicago!”

Do you have a favorite Aerie product?
“Ooh this is a tough question! I love the fit and feel of the Sunnie Pushup Bra as well as all the Aerie swimwear. Everything seems to always hit in the right spot, sizes are consistent and true, and the fabrications are so comfortable!  I also live in the Aerie Skinny Skinny Jogger pants– -the fabric is the perfect thickness and they’re super soft. I wear them to sleep, around the house, and throw on filp flops, army boots, or converse to walk the dogs.”

What does being #AerieREAL mean to you?
“To me, being #AerieREAL is being true to yourself and “owning it!” It’s about having confidence, being comfortable in your own skin, and creating your own definition of happiness and beauty. Being #AerieREAL is a state of mind that you exude physically.”

Thank you, Rosie! Be sure to check out her photography and follow her on Instagram!

xoxo,

Aerie
