Jon, of Jon James casting, has been spending the past few weeks pouring over the top 250 contestants in each AE Jean fit of our Live Your Life contest to help narrow down the next face of AE.

The glamorous life of a casting director!

What is your background?
I’m a graduate of Cornell University where I majored in Fine Arts (Painting and Photography).

How did you get into casting?
I’ve worked in various areas of fashion, everything from advertising, styling and production.  Casting ended up being the area where I excelled most.

What makes a Live Your Life contest profile stand out to you? 
For me, the pictures have to stand out right off the bat.  I look for confidence in front of the camera and a killer smile!

What is a typical day like for you?
It depends on what I’m working on: fashion week is completely different then advertising.  Normally, I wake up at 5 a.m. and walk my two golden retrievers then drink about five cups of coffee to get the juices flowing.  I normally work 16 hour days when I’m on a job.

What is the coolest part of your job?
Everything!

Where is the best place you have traveled for your job?
Unfortunately, no where too exotic; but I do go to Miami and LA for work quite often, which I love; especially in the winter.

Do you have any cool hobbies or interests?
I ski and play tennis as much as possible.  I also love working outside in my garden.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Nature, art, and beauty.
