3 SUMMER STAPLES, ENDLESS BEACH VIBES

Molly Hogan (@trendychickadee) is a sun-chasing, sandy-beach-loving boho babe. Based in LA, her blog is dedicated to bringing followers all the latest info on her favorite up-and-coming brands, emerging trends, travel diaries and more.

Molly’s relaxed, beachy vibe reminds us of what we love most about summer: effortless, sunny style during the warmest days of the year. We asked her to show us her take on 3 summer staples – tanks, shorts and Aerie swim!

White Denim Shorts Aerie Swim Trendy ChickadeeMolly took her first look to the sunny Golf Coast of Florida. First order of business? Pool time, obviously. Molly rocked Aerie’s swimsuit of the summer, the One Piece Super Scoop, and topped it off with a straw fedora.

Next up, Molly took her bike for a quick spin around town in classic white denim shorts and a flirty, strapless ruffled top. Does anything feel more boardwalk-ready than pale, nautical stripes? (We think not!)

“My favorite summer wardrobe staple is a pair of white denim shorts, and AEO has the best of the best! I paired them with a breezy tube top for a beach bike ride, and then a chambray crop later in the day for an early dinner.”

Styling The Cutout Floral Dress with Amanda Oleri

Growing up just outside of NYC, Amanda Oleri (@eastcoastfox) was introduced at a young age to the culture, fashion and pace of the city –  an energy that still influences her unique style (an effortless mix of trendy, modern and bohemian) today.

These days, you’ll most often find the founder of lifestyle destination East Coast Fox exploring her Brooklyn neighborhood, jet-setting to her next spontaneous escape destination, or updating the blog with her latest style tips and adventures.

We asked Amanda to style this ultra-feminine floral dress (with some eye-catching cutouts), and she gave it her signature NYC spin by pairing it with these bright-white high tops – because, as she puts it, “you can’t walk the city in heels!” The combo of flirty florals and sporty sneakers makes for an effortless, throw-on-and-go look.

Check out Amanda’s full look below…

Amanda on the inspiration behind her look:
“A cute floral dress is all you need ATM. Lucky for you, I’ve got one right here. And don’t be silly, it’s not your average floral dress – this baby is a head-turner. Between the sweet little cutouts on the side and the keyhole in the front, it’s the perfect blend of flirty and cute.”

Meet Sarunyu Nadee. An LA-based content creator, Sarunyu shares his cool Cali lifestyle on his Instagram, @godofcloudz, which features everything from his love of coffee to the sleek design and architecture that inspire him — all with a modern, minimalist aesthetic.

Sarunyu is a strong believer in the power of positive energy in making goals achievable and amazing feats possible. That vibe definitely resonates on his Instagram feed. And what’s NOT to love about that?

Check out Sarunyu’s look below…

What inspired Sarunyu’s look:

Sarunyu uses a ton of black, white and grey as the base for his modern, laid-back wadrobe, making it easy to mix, match and add in color and prints as he goes.

For this look, Sarunyu styled our Extreme Flex Flat Front Short in black (the 9″ inseam hits just above the knee) with a simple white graphic tee, a black denim jacket with distressed details, and a fresh pair of bright-white sneaks. We’re digging the combination of modern-monochrome and lived-in destruction — gives the whole look an athleisure-meets-streetwear tone.

THE VINTAGE HI-RISE FESTIVAL: LIMITED-EDITION COLLECTION

Blink and you’ll miss ’em. (Like, for real.)

Our (extremely) limited-edition Vintage Hi-Rise Festival collection just landed and it. is. so. GOOD. Designed by artists, this exclusive trio was inspired by the music, art and pop culture of three iconic decades – the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. Each design is limited to just 500 hand-numbered pairs.

And when they’re gone… they’re GONE.

Luckily, we’ve got all the deets on what makes each pair totally unique, the inspiration behind their one-of-a-kind designs AND we even scored some tips from our stylist.

Read on for all the details and check out the entire Limited-Edition Vintage Hi-Rise Festival collection here.

Ltd. Edition ‘70s Vintage Hi-Rise Festival

Picture it… it’s 1977. You’re road-tripping across the country in a tightly packed car, singing along to the radio (yes, the radio – it’s the ’70s, guys) with your friends… And of course you’re wearing your lucky shorts – embellished with the paint splatters, studs, lived-in destruction and colorful patches you’ve collected along your journey.

Ltd. Edition ‘80s Vintage Hi-Rise Festival

Next stop: we’re time-traveling to the ’80s. A nod to early 1980s NYC street culture, this eye-catching design features a bright-white wash illustrated with vivid graffiti-inspired details and spray-paint-like splashes of color.

Ltd. Edition ‘90s Vintage Hi-Rise Festival

Last but not least, our ’90s edition was inspired by early-1990s punk rock and is decked out with metallic-silver embroidery, doodled artwork (butterflies, stars, spaceships, flames – you name it) and statement-making patches.

STYLED 2 WAYS: FEATURING THE ’70s VINTAGE HI-RISE FESTIVAL

Love ’em, but not quite sure how to wear ’em? Never fear! Our lead stylist put together two easy-to-replicate outfits that highlight this free-spirited pair’s best features. Check out her tips and shop each look with the links below!

LOOK 1: WEEKEND WANDERLUST

Let those studs, patches and paint splatters do the talking by keeping the rest of the look simple. A classic striped tank (the cropped silhouette won’t cover any of the short’s awesome details), distressed denim jacket and leather ankle booties make for a go-anywhere, do-anything look that blends retro vibes and modern appeal. Add your favorite sunnies and BOOM.

ESPECIALLY this season – pins, patches and embroidered details are EVERYWHERE. Iron-on patches designed to look like embroidery will make your jacket look like it took hours to create, while actually only taking up a few minutes of your time.

M&J Trimming Patches DIY Embroidered Jacket

To find our iron-on patches, we took a trip to M&J Trimming in NYC. WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Denim jacket (or other denim of choice!)
  • Iron-on patches (we found ours here)
  • Iron
  • Ironing board or iron-safe surface
  • Thin piece of fabric (dish towel, washcloth, etc.)

M&J Trimming Patches DIY Embroidered Jacket

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Heat up the iron on high, no steam.
  2. Plan out your design! Lay your jacket on a flat surface and experiment with patch placement until you find an arrangement you like.
  3. Start ironing the patches on one at a time. Place patch on the desired area and cover with the thin fabric.
  4. Lay the iron over the patch for 30-60 seconds, giving the glue enough time to adhere to the jacket.
  5. Let the patch cool completely before checking to make sure it’s secure.
  6. Repeat for each patch!
