How To Wear The AEO Sateen X Jegging With Diamonds For Dimes

The AEO Sateen X Jegging is one of our most loved fits. The Sateen X line is made with low twist yarn that enhances the natural softness of our Extreme Jegging. Kelly from Diamonds For Dimes adds a bohemian flare to her #AEOSTYLE by pairing our buff pink jegging back to a seventies inspired top and accessories. Get to know Kelly and her inspiration behind her look below.

Meet Kelly:
“My name is Kelly Schneider, I’m 23 years old, and from Boston! I’m a recent grad of Providence College and am now working in digital marketing for a jewelry company in Rhode Island. The first year out of college really hits you in terms of expenses. I created Diamonds for Dimes as an outlet to help other girls find fashionable, quality pieces for a great price!”

What Inspired Kelly’s Look:
“The end of August and beginning of September can be a tricky time when it comes to fashion. It’s still warm out, but we typically gravitate towards fall pieces because that’s what’s being pushed in stores. That’s why I love the Buff Pink Jegging—it’s the perfect transitional piece from summer to fall! Obviously, any shade of pink is a must for summer, but because these jeggings are more of a dusty rose color they work perfectly with a more muted color palette for fall. And don’t even get me started on how comfortable American Eagle jeggings are—they’re a dream come true!”

As Seen In #AEOSTYLE: Started From The Bottom

Styling a strong outfit is sometimes like constructing a building: you have to start from the bottom. We love the focus on trendy fall AEO bottoms we spotted in some of our favorite magazines recently. From destroyed mended details on hi-rise jeggings to flowy skirts with endless pairing possibilities, check out how #AEOSTYLE was featured this month.

Denim featuring destroyed mended detailing is a fun update to basic destructed denim, as seen in Life & Style. If you want to switch things up, channel Victoria Justice and rock a paneled skirt, which you can easily style to look sporty like Victora or boho like the vintage vibe we’re seeing everywhere this season.

Parkour Time: 10 Questions With Tim Burton

We’re introducing AEO Flex/Denim, an innovative new denim technology that moves with you in three different levels of flexibility — Core, Active, and Extreme — and we wanted to really put it to the test. So, we partnered with the amazing athletes of WFPF to showcase the revolutionary versatility of these jeans and what you can do in them. We featured three parkour athletes in our latest Flex/Denim video and were so impressed by their talent that we wanted to get to know them a little more. Read on for our second interview with Tim Burton.

Tim Burton Parkour

AEO: Who are some of your heroes? They do not have to be athletes.
TB: Parkour hero: Florian H. (MonkeeeyMan on YouTube) or Callum Powell. Flo for his crazy speed and precision, and I feel like Callum’s early videos represent so much of what I love in parkour. Solid training, adventure with friends, and strange goofy shenanigans. Music hero: Mike Portnoy or Claudio Sanchez. Both way too talented and I love their music. Life hero: C.S. Lewis or Ravi Zacharias. Both incredibly wise, pillars of truth in my life.

AEO: When did you become interested in Parkour?
TB: I was ready for parkour before I had ever seen it or knew it had a name. As a kid, I always made obstacles courses for myself, tried to run on walls or jump over gaps, climbed all the things, etc. When I saw it for the first time on the internet at the age of 14, there wasn’t even an option not to start.

Tim Burton Parkour

AEO: How much time do you spend practicing in a week?
TB: Currently, I only practice around 6-10 hours a week. That’s not near as often as I used to or as I’d like, but work keeps me pretty dang busy.

AEO: What was your favorite part about shooting the AEO Flex Video?
TB: I think if I had to pick a favorite part about shooting the AEO Flex video, it would be the production quality – specifically the cameras. I’ve seen countless parkour videos, but few shot with the quality of RED cameras and drones they were using.  Those shots looked incredible, and it was pretty wild to see myself included in them!

AEO: What was the most dangerous Parkour move you’ve done to date? Any injuries?
TB: There’s a decent amount of high consequence jumps I’ve done where if you don’t stick the landing, you’ve got a hefty drop to negotiate. I did a kong precision not long ago on a parking garage roof – just a medium power pass, but around 5 story drop if you didn’t stick the landing.

Tim Burton Parkour

AEO: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
TB: Something interesting most people don’t know? I have a very strong passion for music. Whenever I’m doing less parkour and have more time, I will most definitely be getting a band together.

AEO: Greatest advice you’ve ever received in Parkour? And any advice for aspiring Parkour athletes?
TB: Best advice I’ve probably ever received is treat parkour with immense respect as one would a martial art. Spend years honing your basics and foundation, be patient with your progress but always push yourself to be challenged in all manner of ways, and absolutely leave your ego at the door. Don’t take yourself too seriously, have fun, its not about being better than everyone else.

AEO: What was your favorite thing about the Flex denim?
TB: Hands down favorite thing about the Flex denim is the range of motion they allowed. Not restrictive at all, super comfortable, and looked pretty dang sharp to go with it.

Tim Burton Parkour

AEO: Where else would you wear AEO Flex to?
TB: I’d wear those jeans anywhere. Comfortable enough to wear any casual day out with friends and looked plenty slick to wear with a suit coat to a nice dinner or event.

AEO: Top 3 songs you are listening to right now?
TB: Top 3 songs right now?! Can I just pick albums? How about, Holding On To You by Twenty One Pilots, Pay No Mind by Madeon, and Alpha by Periphery.

Follow Tim’s daily adventures here, and make sure to check out our previous interviews with Max Henry and Paul Joseph, two of the other WFPF athletes featured in our video.

What you do:
Step 1:
Turn your AEO Denim X Kick Boot Jean into shorts by cutting a straight line across both legs.

Step 2: Choose a piece of fabric that is large enough to cover the back pockets of the jeans. Lay the fabric flat on the jeans and trace the shape of the pockets onto the fabric.

Step 3: Create another outline of the pocket that is 1/2” wider than the initial one on all sides. Cut around this outer line.

DIY Patchwork Denim Shorts Step 4: Apply hem tape to the inside of your guidelines and fold the excess 1/2” of fabric over the tape. Press down to secure. Do this around the entire perimeter of your fabric until you create something that resembles the shape of your pocket.

Step 5: Adhere the fabric to the pocket using using fabric glue and let dry. Be careful not to glue the opening of the pocket shut.
