#AEOSTYLE Challenge Denim Edition: Slim

We believe in one-of-a-kind fits, not one size fits all… so we put our blood, sweat and tears into designing the best fits for you. This season, we’re highlighting real bloggers in each of our denim fits to give you styling inspiration.

Ryan Charchian from The Fashionisto Diaries is wearing our Slim Jean this season. Our Slim Jean is about to be your new favorite fit… lean, versatile and perfect for someone who prefers slim but not skinny.

What inspired Ryan’s look:
American Eagle Outfitters has a ton of great pieces to go back to school with. I paired this tribal print baseball tee with light wash slim jeans to show the contrast of the pieces. The slim jeans are also very comfortable if you aren’t in a skinny jean kind of mood for class. This backpack is really big and I’ll be able to carry my laptop and textbooks with me no problem.

At school, shoes make a statement. These camo-like New Balances really stand out with the bright “N,” which also matches the baseball tee.

Ryan’s blog turned into something more as he started to feature his style and his adventures in fashion. Fashionisto Diaries became what it is today when Ryan was in high school. Ryan started attending fashion week during his junior year and has attended every season of New York Fashion Week since.

During the Spring/Summer 2014 shows, Ryan was one of the bloggers Tumblr selected to attend fashion week and create content for the platform. #AEOSTYLE Challenge Denim Edition: Favorite Boyfriend

We believe in one-of-a-kind fits, not one size fits all… so we put our blood, sweat and tears into designing the best fits for you. This season, we’re highlighting real bloggers in each of our denim fits to give you styling inspiration.

Our first blogger is Ashlyn from Let it Be Beautiful wearing our Favorite Boyfriend Jean. Every girl needs that one relaxed jean. Take casual to the next level with the fit that’s great for class or long, lazy weekends.

What inspired Ashlyn’s look:
“Summer is half way over & before we know it, fall will be making its infamous debut. That means it will be time to head back to school, crack down at work and say hello to cooler weather! To be honest, I am ready for cooler weather so that I can pull out my comfy jeans, cozy cardigans & darker hues like navy & brown. I am not wishing summer away by any means, but fall weather is one of my favorite times of the year. I know skinny jeans have been the fad for some time, but the Favorite Boyfriend fit is certainly becoming my new favorite. They are super casual, really comfy and they go great with this peep-toe bootie or a knee high riding boot. Pairing them with this floral and lace top along with the white ribbed over-sized cardigan helps keep the summer breezes at bay & welcomes the cooler temps as they start to arise.”

Friends & Family: Jenni Radosevich from I Spy DIY

You may have seen some of our amazing collaborations with DIY superstar Jenni Radosevich including our Embroidered Graphic Tank Top and Neon Gem Sandals. Read on to learn more about one of our favorite blogger contributors, Jenni!

Jenni from I Spy DIY.

Jenni from I Spy DIY.

How did you discover your love of crafting?
I have always been a crafty girl and growing up in Wisconsin I always created my own style: thrifting clothes, making friendship bracelets and covering everything I owned with tie dye and puffy paint (I was not afraid of multiple pops of color). When I moved to New York on a tight budget, I continued to make the trends I was seeing in magazines and on the runway. I got a great response from my coworkers at InStyle, which lead to a story in the mag, then a column, and then a book, I Spy DIY Style and ISpyDIY.com.

What’s next for I Spy DIY?
I am jazzed to be partnering up with Darby Smart to release new DIY kits every other week for the next year! I think its a great way to evolve the DIY tutorial so readers can get the same material I am working with. I am also teaching Craft Classes in I Spy DIY Studio, which I such a cool way to get off the computer and make cool stuff with rad people in real life.

What is the most difficult part of running your own business?
There are a ton of fun things about having a crafty job, but I think the most difficult is the pace of websites and making sure that you are constantly coming up with new projects and inspiration for others. I also think social media has become an untamed beast. People are forgetting to unplug and enjoy life instead of just Instagramming about it.

What is the most rewarding part of I Spy DIY?
I LOVE seeing readers make my projects, it still amazes be that people read about my projects and are inspired to create them. It’s pretty cool. If you make one, make sure to tag me on Insta (@ispydiy), I want to see it!

What is your all-time favorite DIY project?
Ohhhh, If I had to pick just one it would be my chain and rhinestone wrapped bracelet. It was one of my first jewelry projects, and it came out when wearing a stack of bracelets was the must thing to do, so it really took off on the internet and put me on the map as a DIYer.

What’s currently on repeat on your playlist?
I am OBSESSED with Sam Smith. Obsessed. I listen to “Latch” approximately 47 times everyday. It is my instant mood lifter. That man can sing!

Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere! I love Pinterest. I love window shopping for ideas. I am a magazine connoisseur. Once you change your mentality for buying to DIYing, you find inspiration all over the place.

What is your favorite fit of AEO Jeans?
I have been searching for great pair of Boyfriend jeans and AEO nailed theirs. Great fit and great distressing… stay tuned for an amped up version soon.

What is your best DIY tip?
Start with a simple project, like a bracelet. Once you experience the excitement of making something, the instant gratification of wearing it, the compliments, and being able to say you did it yourself, you will be hooked.

Once you start crafting, you'll be hooked!

Once you start crafting, you’ll be hooked!

What’s always in your purse and why?
I switch purses so often I am lucky to get out of the house with the essentials! Keys, wallet and iPhone always make the transition from bag to bag, and if it’s a good day, there will be some powder and a pen in the new bag. And lipstick, I also have between 5-7 lipsticks in everybag… but never the color I want. My DIYed phone charger is always handy, and my Frend’s headphones are usually slung over the strap.

What’s next on your life to-do list?
More travel! San Fran, Mexico and Abu Dhabi are all on the list.

The amazingly talented photographer, Annie Frame

Love our graphic T-shirts? So do we! And we have an extra bonus for you… an interview with the photographer behind two of this season’s T’s: Annie Frame! Get to know this super cool Brooklyn based photographer in our exclusive interview with her below!

Tell us about yourself?
“I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Brooklyn, New York five years ago to pursue art and find adventure.”

What is your favorite photograph you have taken and why?
“I can’t say I have a favorite, because it’s always changing and there’s just too many to choose from, but I always love photographing my friends above all else. [Mostly], the simple things, having picnics, going to shows, dancing, laughing, it’s the little things in life, and the people you get to share it with.”

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

What inspires your photography?
“Actually, movies and music inspire my photographs greatly. It really helps me get into a mood, and that makes me imagine me what I want the photo to look like. That and I walk around the city and meet new interesting people every day.”

We featured two of your images on our graphic T-shirts this season; can you tell us the story behind the images and what it means to you to have these sold in AEO stores and online?
“First of all, absolutely thrilled to be on an AEO shirt! The first image, the one of two girls dancing was taken at a show that my friend’s band was playing at. They were in the front having a lot of fun and they seemed so free. I asked them if it was okay for me to take their pictures and they said “sure!” Later I found out they were best friends, and were both professional dancers as well. The other image is of my cat. His name is “little man” and he looks grumpy all the time, but he secretly loves to snuggle.”

What’s the best city you have visited and the top city on your bucket list?
“The best city I’ve ever visited is New York City. It was the best then; it’s still the best now. But Tokyo, Japan is definitely top on my list to.”

Tell us one thing about yourself that no one would guess about you?
“I play the drums and I love to dance. I even have a tattoo professing my love for these things.”
