One of the biggest trends throughout our latest collection is patterns and prints. We’re excited about the life bold patterns bring to some of our favorite styles like button-down shirts, rompers and tees. Patterns are a fun update to basic pieces and provide the opportunity to refresh how you mix and match your closet. Since the spotlight is on prints, we asked our Styling Manager, Laura, to show us a few ways to wear pattern on pattern. This isn’t as tricky as it sounds, and anyone can do it with a few quick styling tips! Laura says, “I love mixing pattern on pattern! As long as you keep the color scheme somewhat similar, anyone can pull it off.”
Laura recommends playing with the scales of prints (for example, mix a bigger patterned tee with a smaller printed button-down, as you’ll see below) or keeping the prints close in size for an unexpected contrast. Stick to the same color scheme or tie in one color from each piece to seamlessly bring the look together. Check out all three of Laura’s pattern on pattern outfits below!
How To Wear It: Take it easy in this effortlessly sweet pairing. Make pattern on pattern work here by tying in the blue tones of the romper to a patterned chambray button-down shirt. Laura recommends tying the button-down around the waist to show off the scale in pattern. Finish off the look with neutral flats or booties to dress the outfit up – your choice! Add some mirrored sunnies for a cool touch that doesn’t overrun the look.
How To Wear It: The key to this pattern on pattern look is working in the same color family. Because the patterns are vastly different, Laura kept both prints in the blue family so that combining the shirts wouldn’t feel overwhelming. Khaki slim pants help to neutralize the bold top half, and sneakers keep it casual. Black top-rimmed sunglasses make the look street-style ready.
How To Wear It: Go boho in this vibrant, free-spirited look. Pair a patterned soft pant (we used a jogger-style pant here) with a tie-dye tee. Make sure that the tee and pants contain corresponding colors – in this case, a beautiful deep indigo – so that the pairing is deliberate, not haphazard! Tuck the shirt in slightly in the front, and pile on bracelets and a necklace. Finish the look with brown strappy sandals.
