Meet the Cast: Teren

Meet the Cast: Teren

Meet Teren, an artist from Burleson, Texas and a winner of American Eagle Outfitters’ Project Live Your Life. We talked to Teren about life in the Lonestar state and what inspired her art. Read on to see what Teren had to say and be sure to follow her on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

You’re from the Lonestar State. Is everything really bigger in Texas?

Yes! Especially the pride. You can tell a Texas by their confidence.

When did you start illustrating?

I started drawing when I was in eighth grade in 2008. I was obsessed with a band called “Forever the Sickest Kids” and drew their portraits and since they were from my hometown, I gave the portraits to them.

What medium do you like best?

My favorite medium is pencil. I also recently have become fond of using pen. I’ve been experimenting a lot lately to see what I like and what I don’t like. I really want to learn how to paint!

Where do you find your inspiration?

I gather my inspiration from things that are beautiful: people, places, flowers, animals – basically anything in nature. I like to capture the quirks and unique characteristics in people and bring them to life on paper.

What sparked your interest in art?

My entire family is artsy. I have musically talented cousins, artistic aunts… it just runs in my blood, I suppose!

Meet the Cast: Luiza

Meet the Cast: Luiza

Meet Luiza, a student and model from Miami, Florida and winner of American Eagle Outfitters Project Live Your Life. We interviewed Luiza during our Spring 2014 photo shoot in San Francisco. Keep reading to learn more about her and be sure to follow her on Instagram and Pinterest.

How do you like living in Miami?

It’s a big change, but I’m getting used to it. It’s nice seeing the sun every day but I miss the greenery and mountains.

What are your favorite haunts in Miami?

Hallandale Beach and the Design District. There’s a place called Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink that I adore!

Have you always wanted to model?

Not really, it’s a new thing. I started modeling a year ago but didn’t think about it before then.

Modeling life can be very challenging but very rewarding. What are some of the biggest challenges and successes you’ve faced?

Challenges: Balancing modeling and school. I’m a bio major, so that doesn’t leave a lot of free time. It’s hard balancing shoots and school work.

Successes: Meeting all the amazing people I’ve worked with and making friends. All the people I’m close with right now I’ve met as a result of modeling.

If you could meet any fashion/modeling icon who would it be?

Sasha Luss – she’s gorgeous, well-known and seems like a sweetheart. She’s also Russian like I am. She’s gotten to where she is without drugs or falling into an unhealthy lifestyle and I respect that.

What are your biggest do’s and don’ts of modeling?

Do: Have an open mind and be willing to collaborate with other people. You never know when a strange idea might catch someone’s eye and turn into a major campaign.

Don’t: Change your identity to fit into the modeling industry. The big clients look for someone who is unique and can bring them something different. Someone once told me that the girls with a twinkle in their eye and glowing skin get the big contracts and that has stuck with me ever since!

Meet Aerie’s Top Model…Charlie!

Meet Aerie’s Top Model…Charlie!

We had the opportunity to sit down with Charlie, the pup who made quite the splash breaking into the spotlight this holiday season. Dana S., Aerie’s Senior Director of Marketing and proud owner of her new model-in-training, rescued Charlie from Animal Friends, a shelter in Pittsburgh. Her new best friend was an immediate hit with our team, as he accompanied her to the holiday photoshoot. One thing led to another, and Charlie just might be the next top model. Read on below for an exclusive interview!

Meet Aerie's Top Model...Charlie!

Meet Charlie!

Hi, Charlie! Thanks for taking some time to sit with us! Can you tell us a little bit about your background?

I spent the first two years of my life in animal shelters. I was well cared for but pretty scared and timid…until my new mom came in!  We connected right away. It took a bit to get used to my new place, especially the stairs, but now I love my comfy bed and big yard… it’s home!

Aw! What’s your favorite sweet treat?

Honestly, I can’t get enough Beggin’ Strips…it’s my indulgence. But I keep it balanced with healthy snacks like carrots.

Smart! With a rising star like you. It’s important to focus on nutrition. Do you have a favorite getaway spot?

Grandma and Grandpa have a rockin’ cabin in the mountains. I love to bird watch and run around in the woods.

Sounds great! So, what was your favorite part of the photoshoot?

Hanging out with all the models, of course! All that attention and love from such pretty ladies. So many ear-rubs and walks and thanks to the caterers for all the secret treats they gave me.  Shhhh!

Meet Aerie's Top Model...Charlie!

Charlie making friends and scoring a few ear rubs on set!

You lucky, dog you! What are your plans for the Holidays?

This is my second holiday with my family and I love to curl up in front of the fireplace while everyone hangs out.

Do you have a special toy on your Holiday wishlist?

I love to destroy toys so I really only have them for one day. My favorite toy right now is a penguin. But he won’t make it to New Year’s. ;) I love anything that makes noise.

Meet Aerie's Top Model...Charlie!

Ready for his close-up.

 What’s your favorite Holiday song?

My mom plays them all but I love Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You!”

You seem very trendy. What’s your favorite, on-trend Holiday accessory?

My red and green bow tie. No doubt.

Meet Aerie's Top Model...Charlie!

Looking fashionable in his bow tie after a good, but long day at work!

How handsome! How did you feel when you saw your picture up in Times Square?

Like a rockstar! And so humbled. I realized how far I have come and how many people have helped me get to where I am. From my pals at Animal Friends in Pittsburgh to my new mom and my forever home… I know I am the luckiest dog in the world.

Thank you so much so much Charlie! We hope to see you around the office again soon!

Aerie
