How did you get your start with Aerie?

I got started with AE as a merchandising intern the summer before my senior year at the University of Pittsburgh and fell in love with the brand and the job. I had always thought that a job in merchandising was the direction I wanted to pursue, and I was fortunate enough to find a role and company that I love so early in my career. After college graduation I transitioned into pushup bras, and it’s been an whirlwind of a year. It’s so empowering to be involved in a huge growth category for aerie. I have my hands in so many different parts of the business – from the first ideas we have in product development to the time the bras are finally selling in stores. The scope of what I’m involved in as an assistant buyer is still a little crazy to me. I learn so much every single day.

Who or what has been the most important influence in your life?

My parents. As I get older I notice more and more that I’m turning into them. They’ve been nothing but supportive for me and have definitely made me who I am – runner, animal-lover, beer-enthusiast.

What songs are playing on your iPod?

I have a really eclectic mix. I love everything from Alt Rock to Top 40 and some old stuff too. I’ve been known to play “Call Your Girlfriend” by Robyn at any bar I find with a jukebox. Guilty pleasure.

How did you discover your passion?

Trial and error. It’s so hard. You just can’t be afraid to try things. I LOVE to eat new foods and try new recipes. I’m a total foodie, but I couldn’t tell you when I learned that about myself. Same with running, I used to hate it. And then it turned into an obsession and I ran my first marathon in Pittsburgh in May. I think trusting your intuition is SO important. Your gut usually isn’t going to mislead you. What things really bring you the most pleasure in life? Those are  your passions – the things you never get tired of. From the time I was a kid I loved shopping and retail. (Even though my mom hates it!) And look where I am now.

What is next on your ‘To Do In Life’ list?

I need to travel more and see new places. I made my 2013 new year’s resolution to spend less money on things and go travel instead. So far I’ve done really well! Since February I’ve been to LA, Virginia Beach, and Miami, and I have trips to DC, San Francisco, and Park City planned too. Next it’s time to go further, leave the US. Europe, maybe?

How would you describe your style?

I’m definitely a jeans and t-shirt girl. As much as I love putting on a new dress and heels, I always feel my best in a good pair of jeans and a tee. Can’t beat it.

Favorite Aerie Bra?

Harper – she’s my girl. I get a little protective of her, I think. When we’re assorting a line for a season, I always want some of my favorite style ideas to go into Harper because I want them for me!

How does your work influence your style?

I love working with so many people who are as enthusiastic about clothes as I am. Every day somebody comes in with a new pair of shoes or a top that I have to have for myself. It’s a great environment to work in. I don’t know if I could handle a job where my wardrobe was limited.

What is your dream job?

I would host one of those TV shows where people just travel all over the world and eat fun foods. Does it get any better than that?

What is your favorite spot in NYC?

Every time I go to NY, I don’t have enough time to do all the exploring I would love to do. But so far nothing beats morning runs through Central Park. It’s such a great way to start the day, and there are ALWAYS so many other people out there running and biking and dog-walking. I love it – especially pretty sunny mornings. Just sets me up for a great day.
