The Girls of Coachella 2011

From the main stage to the dance tent the design inspiration was endless this year… prints, colors, textures and endless accessories. Favorite items? Crocheted layers, fun rompers, pretty printed dresses, leather sandals, denim shorties and combat boots. Hat and glasses were a must and whatever you do, don’t forget to put a feather (or 5) in your hair. Check out our pics and get inspired for your next festival or other summertime shenanigans!

The Dudes of Coachella 2011

We may have been a few hundred miles from the nearest beach (in the middle of the desert actually) but the guys at Coachella were rockin’ some serious 80′s-inspired surf looks during this year’s festival. What else do you wear when it’s 100 degrees in the shade?! Boardshorts, cut-offs, graphic t’s, preppy button-downs and crazy shades were also big standouts. Oh yeah, don’t forget the neon, yo!

Amongst the dusty records of UC Davis’ KDVS college radio station, Tom Shimura, who currently makes records as Lyrics Born, found too much to love. Sandwiched between gatefold LPs, 12-inch singles, dub versions and white-labels was a reservoir of inspiration that he would draw on for the following decades. That was then. This is now. Since his college days, Bay Area-native Lyrics Born’s raw, authentic talent has been polished to a gleaming beacon of originality in a time when it’s needed most.

Coachella-Day 2

The sun blasted us all day with 102 degree heat but we loved every minute of it. Once the sun went down the full moon came up and took center stage… a beautiful day indeed.

Our highlights?

Foals, Gogol Bordello, The Radio Dept., Delta Spirit, Two Door Cinema, Yelle, Erykah Badu, the Kills, Mumford & Sons, and of course, Arcade Fire.
We saw some really great fashion, too— so keep your eye out for our Coachella style posts coming in the next few days. Until then enjoy a few of our favorite shots from Day 2.
